Libraries are cool (free air conditioning) quiet, relaxing, and there are many activities that are free. Reading, listening to music, looking at art works, using computers, watching people, free and entertaining activities for kids, and your can check out books to take home and re-live the peaceful quiet atmosphere you experienced at the library. Besides, reading is a wonderful activity that all family members can enjoy. (My mother taught all of us to read. The house was quiet, we shared stuff from books, and we taught each other.) We all still read and share books and authors!!

Best summer treat for us is watching a storm come in and then finding a spot on the patio where we can sit and enjoy the rain pounding down. Sometimes we have to move from place to place but getting a little wet is not a bad thing! Also for the gals, keep a bottle of a fragrant splash spray in the fridge and give yourself a treat when hot and sweaty.

When my husband and I are out in the summer heat - whether its grocery shopping, department store shopping, a do it yourself store for a treat to cool off my husband always takes me to get a Venti De Caf Mocha Frapachino light (without whip cream). I sip at it all the way home enjoying the flavor and coolness of the drink. That is my very favorite summer treat!

About an hour before dusk, head out the door with the sun hat on and walk about 1/2 mile to Frost to relax and enjoy a deliciously refreshing gelato. Then head back home - a little exercise and summer treat, too.

Nothing beats a cold summer treat better than Dairy Queen.  Soft serve at its finest.  And when the grandkids are in town we get out the super-soakers and can actually be outside for awhile in the blistering heat.  For us adults - taking in the beautiful sunsets sitting under the mister and having a fine glass of wine.  Total Bliss!!

I don't have air conditioning, just a swamp cooler, so I spend as much time as possible away from the house, and if I can find shade and a breeze I like to be outdoors. The park is my first choice.
