Meet Sheila Hamann this week's Ben's Bellee!

Sheila Hamann was nominated by Krista H Gray

Meet Sheila Hamann this week's Ben's Bellee! Sheila Hamann was nominated by Krista H Gray because For five years she has conducted art activities for people with Alzheimer's Disease/dementia. She does this twice a month on alternate Mondays in our community center. Each "class" takes much preparation. Our HOA helps with the costs. With help from a fluid group of volunteers, she has from 2 to 8 attendees each time. While Sheila and her helpers are busy with these folks, their caregivers (spouses/daughters/sons/friends who care for them) are able to attend a session in another room with representatives from the Alzheimer's association. This program is much loved and appreciated by both the caregivers and the Alzheimer's folks and Sheila's planning and teaching of this class is a shining example of what volunteerism and caring are all about. I know Sheila because I am the volunteer client manager for our Civano "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" group so I report all of our volunteer efforts to Pima Council on Aging each month. Sheila is of course, one of our shining stars, but her program is not known to many. I believe she deserves a Ben's Bell.

Ben's Bells promote kindness and community.

Every Friday morning at 8:30 the Morning Mix teams up with the Ben's Bells Project to salute a person who betters Tucson! Each weekly recipient is "belled" (and joyfully celebrated!) as a unique individual who shares their kindness with our community. Visit bensbells.org or call 628-2829 to nominate a special person you feel should be recognized for their kindness and caring.
