94.9 Mix-FM afternoon host, Adrienne Walker, got her start in radio in her bedroom, where she would record songs off the radio onto her portable cassette player, then turn the microphone on herself and pretend to be the DJ.
Since 1997, Adrienne has enjoyed her position as afternoon host on Mix-FM, not only because she loves music, but also because it’s a conduit to reach out to the community. Her own heart surgery in 1999 spurred her to spread the word about women’s heart health with the American Heart Association.

Adrienne's official tenure in radio has included everything from the college rock station at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana; to the “World’s Only Wind-Powered Radio Station” in Steamboat Springs, CO; to host of “Love Songs Along The KOST”, in Los Angeles.
After 9/11, Adrienne and her husband drove a 26-foot truck across the country to deliver supplies donated by Mix-FM listeners to Ground Zero workers. “Tucsonans never cease to amaze me with their generosity,” Adrienne says. “Through numerous events in the community, I’ve seen Tucson respond time and again to help their community and even people far away, like Haiti. I love living and working in Tucson!”
