    chorus

The Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus presents its annual POPS CONCERT on
Saturday, May 4, Catalina Foothills High School Auditorium at 3:00pm.
The concert will open with the lively “85 Years of Song” in celebration of
the group’s historic 85th Anniversary. Current members represent a new
    generation of a Tucson tradition.

Under the direction of Dr. Julian Ackerley, assisted by Jordan M. Shomper,
the program will highlight all six of the Boys Chorus groups performing an
entertaining show of lighter music. Boys showcased are between the ages
of 6 through 21 who are members of the Touring Chorus, TowneSingers,
Cadet Choir, Northwest Voices and the Young Men’s Ensemble. Also
appearing will be members of the Alumni Chorus comprised of former
choristers from the past 85 years.

The concert features a variety of styles of popular music including
contemporary, gospel and world folksongs. One segment of the program
will highlight Chinese songs in recognition of the group’s upcoming tour to China this summer. In a
humorous salute of the date May the 4th (be with you) the Young Men’s Ensemble will present a medley
of John Williams music with a Star Wars theme.
Another segment will have a moonlight theme with selections as Moonglow, Blue Moon, Fly Me To The
Moon and Dancin’ In The Moolight. In addition, the choristers will perform their signature western
songs with fancy trick rodeo roping. The concert concludes with all the boys and alumni in a grand finale.
Reserved seat tickets for the POPS CONCERT are $20.00 premium seating, $15.00 general and $8.00 for
children under 12 and are available at the Boys Chorus office located at 5770 E. Pima Street, online at
