Meet Humberto S. Lopez this week's Ben's Bells Bellee! Humberto was nominated by Tucson Council Member Richard Fimbres for his generous donations to the Tucson Homeless Work Program and to Sister Jose’s Women’s Center.
Humberto Lopez is one of the most prominent businessmen in Southern Arizona. Through his property business, he oversees 10,000 apartment/family homes in Tucson. Humberto and his wife Czarina have made several large and very kind donations to support people experiencing homelessness. The two main gifts have been towards Sister Jose’s Women’s Center and the Tucson Homeless Work Program.
The donation to Sister Jose’s allowed for a full-scale commercial kitchen in their new facility on S. Park Ave. This addition to the Women’s Center will allow for both meal production and kitchen skills training and certification.
The Tucson Homeless Work Program is an outreach program to help people experiencing homelessness through employment. The City and County came together to start a pilot program in December 2016. Humberto came forward and provided a matching $50,000 donation, which will allow for the pilot to be more expansive and inclusive of those experiencing homelessness. Currently, the work program operates three days a week picking people up from the Salvation Army, Sister Jose’s and the Primavera Foundation.Humberto’s generosity has greatly helped the Tucson community!
If you know someone who spreads kindness within the Greater Tucson or Phoenix community, nominate them for a Ben's Bell! [bensbells.org].
